Project objective

Social engineering attacks are attacks by means of which unauthorised persons, e.g. by means of phishing news, get their hands on private person's or companies’ sensitive data. Within the framework of an EU project research is done about why people fall for phishing messages and which training measures can protect them effectively from this.

How to participate?

Interested individuals and pupils will test an anti-phishing games environment, provide feedback for the current development and evaluation of the games mechanics used and contribute their own ideas and concepts for mini games within the framework of a competition.

What happens to the contributions of citizen scientists?

Based on the citizen scientists’ contributions current improvements will be made in the game “PhishingWars”, which the researchers have developed and the game mechanisms on which it is based. Data collected by the citizen scientists is also used for the standardisation of a specifically developed PhishingIQ test. The best ideas and concepts for mini games will be shortlisted for possible implementation.

Prizes and winners

Individuals are awarded prizes in kind from the Austrian Institute of Technology at the festive event on November 21st, 2017. As regards the prizes that school classes can win and how the winners are chosen will be announced soon.
