Citizen Science, Open Innovation, Co-Creation, Crowdsourcing – science starts to open up: More and more citizens support researchers. They measure, observe, map. They work on a voluntary basis in scientific projects and enrich science with their special know-how and exciting new points of view.

SAVE THE DATE: Austrian Citizen Science Conference 2020 - Submit now!

The 6th Austrian Citizen Science conference takes place from the 6th to the 8th of May 2020. The transdisciplinary conference takes place in the heart of Vienna/Austria and focuses on the Topic "Citizen Science: Anspruch und Bedeutung". Besides a manifold conference program excursions to current Citizen Science projects and a Science Slam are offered.

New working group "Citizen Science with/at schools" - Join now!

The new working group "Citizen Science with/at schools"  was founded at the end of June by the Center for Citizen Science at the platform meeting of "Österreich forscht". The aim is to develop factors for successful cooperation between science and schools. If you want to participate, please contact marika.cieslinski@oead.at.

Workshop summaries - Sparkling Science Congress 2019 - Available now!

On October 7, 2019, 300 participants from schools, science and research discussed and celebrated the great success of the research funding program Sparkling Science at the Vienna University of Technology . Workshop summaries are available in German on: Networks and Partnerships, Competencies and Qualifications, Scientific Output, Innovative Instruction, Supportive Framework and Acceptance of Citizen Science.

New publication on the national and international citizen science landscape published

The brochure on citizen science initiatives, networks, platforms and funding offers a comprehensive overview of the current national and international citizen science landscape. It shows that Austria is at the forefront of this movement. The publication can be downloaded online or ordered free of charge as a print version at citizenscience@oead.at .

SAVE THE DATE: Top Citizen Science: Announcement of new call

In 2020, the FWF is announcing this initiative for the fourth time, which can be used to expand the content and methodology of suitable extension projects from already funded FWF projects with Citizen Science components. The program aims at FWF project leaders whose projects will end on November 30, 2020 or later. Further information on the program and the submission will be published from January 27, 2020.

AGIT 2020: connecting spatially - Submit now!

AGIT will take place from 8 to 10 July 2020 in Salzburg. As an annual meeting point for innovation, networking and further education in the field of geoinformation, AGIT calls with a Citizen Science theme either after full or short papers by 1 February 2020, as an application contribution with a strong practical relevance until 26 February 2020 or as a poster until 1 May 2020!
